DOG Days Of Summer

It’s summertime! The heat and humidity make the days and nights run together. The mosquitoes are in full hatch, and the flowers are in full bloom. The Royals are in mid-season, the Soccer Teams are on the pitch, and the KC Chiefs will begin training camp. I have decided it’s not too late to start my New Year’s Resolution in August. I am eager to incorporate healthy food and activity choices into my life as I pursue a healthier lifestyle.

Here are the new resolutions I will introduce into my weekly schedule: Become more active, target my weak areas, and work hard to make my body stronger. I will have more fun with meal preparation, I will not take away, but rather add new taste and nutrition. As the crops start to mature, I will look to incorporate plentiful and fresh ingredients into my meal prep. I will adjust the frequency of consuming foods that I really enjoy, but may not be the healthiest for me. However, I will not stop eating my favorites altogether, after all, life is to be enjoyed.

It’s time to do for me! My August New Year’s Resolution is officially happening!

MOVEMENT MONDAY: I will challenge myself by remaining physically active every day, incorporating new activities that challenge me. While at the office, I will get up from my desk 3-4 times per day to stretch or go on a short walk.

TASTY TUESDAY: This day, I will dedicate myself to preparing well-rounded, healthy meals. I will not allow myself to cheat my goals by consuming high-calorie food. Tuesday will also be meatless, and there will be an exploration of plant protein meals. I will begin to instill the MIND diet into my food prep choices to promote my brain health.

WOBBLE WEDNESDAY: I will introduce lifestyle choices that will help keep my life in balance, both physically and mentally.

TIME OUT THURSDAY: Sixty minutes a day will be dedicated to myself, and I will put my phone and computer in sleep mode. Then I will do something fun; the sky is the limit.

FUN DAY FRIDAY: Dedicate my time to myself and enjoy moments with family and friends. I will be happy.

I plan to add these goals into my daily life throughout the week. After all, life is all based on CHOICES.
