A little about me
One of the most important characteristics of a healthcare provider is the ability to listen to their patients. When I listen, understand and can interact with my patient it allows me to find a better diagnosis and treat an individual’s needs. It is the optimum treatment path. Every person is
different and there is no “one size fits all” approach. That is why I firmly believe in this approach.
The old adage of an “ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is definitely true. That’s why I enjoy teaching patients how to relate to and think about their health differently. There is a confluence of factors that results in outstanding health care when you bring wellness training
into a combination of mental, physical and spiritual treatment approaches.
I love being a Family Nurse Practitioner and the opportunity to connect with people. As a child,
I moved around a lot which required me to adapt to different cultures and environments. It
provided a true understanding and appreciation of the diverse backgrounds people will bring to
our visits. As a result, patients can see the genuine empathy I have for them and their unique
perspectives.
My Training
I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, certified through American Nurses
Credentialing Center (ANCC). I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at The University
of Kansas, Kansas City, Kansas. From there I earned my Master of Science at The University of
Saint Mary, Leavenworth Kansas. I have worked in healthcare for 10+ years, with a background
of 7 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse with clinical skills in acute care settings, where I
worked closely in cardiovascular medicine and medical-surgical departments. In this primary
care practice, my experience at a more targeted level will be invaluable in understanding the
progression of treatment. It puts me in a situation where my health care advice can prevent the
need to use the services I gained in acute care situations.
This formal training along with the practical experience gained from my clinical experience
provides me the knowledge to offer the most valuable information to my clients in disease
prevention, management of chronic diseases and general health education. Consistent with the
philosophical approach of the Choice Physicians practice approach, I honor and respect the
needs of our patients. The Choice Physicians Group collaborative approach gives me an
unparalleled opportunity to dispense a standard of care every medical professional strives to
achieve.
